The institutional strengthening initiative focuses on the development of a 2023-2030 strategic plan and the development of VANGO institutional policies
Establishing a dynamic and diverse network comprising all CSOs in Vanuatu, which collaboratively and energetically strive to enhance the well-being of the entire population of Vanuatu
Developing a robust NGO sector that faithfully embodies the concerns of ni-Vanuatu individuals and marginalized communities, while advocating for significant local developmental matters
Through its work, VANGO aims to realize its vision of creating “a vibrant and inclusive network of all CSOs in Vanuatu working collaboratively and proactively to contribute to the prosperity of all Vanuatu people”
In order to realize its mission and vision, the institutional strengthening of VANGO is a priority at this point, as identified by the VANGO Board, by member workshops, and by key partners such as Oxfam and PIANGO.
The institutional strengthening initiative focuses on the development of a 2023-2030 strategic plan and the development of VANGO institutional policies.
This strategic plan will allow VANGO to systematically examine its internal and external environment and to plan strategically, building on strengths, reducing weaknesses, and effectively and pro-actively responding to opportunities and threats. It also provides the VANGO Board and staff with a roadmap to align its functional activities with its mission, vision and values. It defines key priorities for VANGO, aids in establishing realistic objectives and goals, and provides a basis for the effective allocation of financial and other resources. Finally, it offers a much-needed foundation for VANGO’s own growth and the growth of its members, a way to structure decision-making, and a basis for the systematic evaluation of its accomplishments and challenges.
To guide the implementation of the strategic plan and all other operations, a set of institutional policies is needed. The policies developed as part of the institutional strengthening initiative are consistent with global, regional and national standards and requirements, and cover all key financial, human resource, and operational areas appropriate for VANGO at this point in its development.
